Law firm accounting software your bookkeeper will actually thank you for.

A law firm has two sets of books, and most software only helps with one. AttorneyOS keeps the business books alongside the trust ledger: every fee note, receipt, expense and bank line flows into a VAT201 pack, an income statement, a cash-flow forecast and a year-end pack your accountant can work from, with month-end close that keeps history from drifting.

What AttorneyOS does for accounting.

Everything below is in the product today and opens on the first day of the trial. No demo, no implementation project.

The VAT201 pack, field by field

Output tax from fee notes and input tax from expenses and disbursements are laid out against fields 1, 4, 14, 15 and 20 of the return, on invoice or payments basis, with the schedule behind each field and the due date for eFiling. Category A, B and C vendors are handled.

Expenses with the receipt attached

Capture rent, salaries, software, counsel not recovered and every other cost with the receipt stored against the line. Recurring expenses write themselves on the first of the month. Drawings and provisional tax are kept out of profit and posted to the partner loan and the balance sheet.

Business bank reconciliation

Import the business bank statement and let receipts and expenses match themselves. Whatever is left is captured in a click and reconciled on the spot, so the month can close with the bank agreed.

Month-end close and locked periods

A checklist covers bank and trust reconciliations, draft invoices, unbilled work, trust interest and the VAT period. Once closed, a month is locked so nothing back-dates into a filed return.

Income statement and cash-flow forecast

Fees, disbursements, bad debts and expenses by category month by month, on accrual or cash basis, plus a thirteen-week cash-flow forecast built from what is actually due in and out.

Year-end and the general ledger export

The year-end pack collects the income statement, ledger, VAT packs, expenses, ageing, profitability, trust audit pack and the Fidelity Fund interest schedule, with the loose ends listed first. Balanced journal lines export as CSV for Sage, Xero or Pastel.

How firms start.

1

Open a workspace

Sign up with an email address. The workspace opens immediately with the demo matter so you can see real screens, not slides.

2

Run one real file

Bring in one live matter and work it for a week: capture, bill, diarise, reconcile. Import clients and matters by CSV when you are ready.

3

Choose a plan

Pick a plan and add a card through Paystack only when you decide to continue. Nothing you built is lost, and everything exports if you leave.

Questions attorneys ask.

Does AttorneyOS replace Sage, Xero or Pastel?

For most small and mid-size firms it covers the day-to-day books. If your accountant works in another package, the general-ledger export gives them balanced journal lines to import.

Can it prepare my VAT201?

It prepares the pack: every field with the schedule behind it, on your VAT basis and category, with the eFiling due date. You still submit the return on eFiling yourself.

What about drawings and income tax?

They are captured as expense lines but kept out of profit: drawings post to the partner loan account and provisional tax to the balance sheet, and the form refuses input VAT on them.

Is trust money mixed into these books?

No. Trust money has its own ledger and never appears in the business books except as a transfer to business against a fee note.

Can I close a month and reopen it?

A closed month is locked so nothing back-dates into it. An owner can reopen a month deliberately, and the action is logged.
